au design project has started at last, 2007

It has been released on January 11 that "au design project," is one of mobile phone designing projects by KDDI in Japan, has started at last, to commercialize new one. Maybe you know this project is famous because various designers take part of it, as Naoto Fukasawa, Marc Newson and so on. And this is the 6th of the series. The designer is Tokujin Yoshioka. From November in 2005, the concept model has been announced and many people have been waited this time.
"MEDIA SKIN" is the name.
Mr. Tokujin thought, "can't a mobile phone exist beyond its physical being? Could it become part of the skin, so you feel it to be part of yourself?" This is the begining that he started searching for a phone that could be 'assimilated as a person's second skin.'
In 2007, we could know and touch the figure, the imagination and the design.

In addition, "INFOBAR," "talby," "neon" and "the concept design 　of "MEDIA SKIN" are to be added to the permanent collection of MoMA. They are the series of "au design project."
